Terrible pollution in Bangkok caused a delay to the start of the domestic season this year so both teams were keen as mustard for Domestic One. It was Pez’s Suea Dum’s versus Nam’s Ma Jing Jok Thong’s-the Black Panthers versus the Golden Jackals. It ended up a mauling.
The Jackals were without key players Welby and Hooey and as the game progressed they lost more players to injury. Samo lasted just a half, Jonno the same, and despite fighting hard for four quarters they just couldn’t resist the Panther’s onslaught. The Jackals scored half their points in the first ten minutes, two goals and a behind, and for the rest of the match they just tried to hold on. The Panther’s kicked eighteen all up, including a monster bag of seven for J-mac and hat tricks to both Pez and Kai. Hasto was the hero in defeat for the Jackals, kicking at least two and running hard all day. The scorers were so overwhelmed they even awarded Hasto a goal for the Panthers so maybe he got three. Either way he was immense, playing every minute and lifting all around him with his efforts. G-Mac also had a huge game and made sure J-mac took home some bruises to go with his big bag of goals. The Panthers were too good on the day. Mani ran amok in the middle, Coyote dominated the ruck, Pez and Jazza were as clever as always around the ground and Deng, Tle and Jame never stopped running. It was a statement performance from the Panthers that will require a major response from the Jackals next week.
